World Photography Day
The session was conducted by Mr. Adnan Abidi, a distinguished photojournalist and three-time Pulitzer Prize winner. He shared valuable insights from his journey in the field, narrating experiences of covering refugee camps of the Rohingyas in Bangladesh, the Israel–Lebanon conflict, the Hamas war, as well as documenting cultural events such as Holi in North India, the Kumbh Mela, and major cricket tournaments. He also guided students on how to handle difficult and unpredictable situations on the field, emphasizing the importance of presence of mind, safety, and ethical responsibility while capturing stories. The session was also attended by MA Journalism students from SIMC.
A special one-on-one review session was also conducted by Mr. Abidi for the final-year SSVAP students, where he offered personalized feedback and mentorship on their work.
The masterclass gave students an opportunity to learn first-hand about the challenges, ethics, and storytelling techniques of photojournalism, along with practical advice on staying safe and resilient in the field, inspiring them to think critically and creatively in their own practice.
